Hello and Good Morning everybody! This is our last Weekend Chat before Christmas!!!!!!!!! I hope you're all very excited and hard at work on Christmas presents for your loved ones. :) So I was thinking, if Beckett celebrated Christmas (ignore the fact that it's probably a bit anachronistic to say that he did) what would he give to the people around him and what gifts would he expect to get from others? A new pistol for Mercer? Hot sex for Jack? A new wig for the good Governor? Or would he hate the whole Christmas thing and hide in his study?
I sincerely hope it's not the last because then he won't be happy about my next announcement: next Wednesday, 23rd December, there's going to be a bit of a Christmas party here in community, officially starting around 5pm UK time. I hope many of you can join the fun, whenever you're free just pop in to say hi. I thought we could have a rewatch of DMC (possibly AWE too if we're in the mood) at some point during the evening. When would be the best time to start for you? Please leave a comment, I will try to come up with a time that's more or less ok for as many of you as possible.
The 23rd is also the day those of you who are participating in the Super Secret Santa Sorta S-thing should post their gifts to each other. Whenever you are online, there is no deadline or anything. If you're not around that day you can also post the gifts on the 24th and 25th, if neither is good for you just send your gift to me (beckett.community@yahoo.com) and I can post it for you. :)
As always, nothing is off-topic in the Chat, feel free to talk about absolutely anything. And don't forget our comment_fic thread, even if you don't have time or are not in the mood to write anything please leave a few prompts, it only takes a minute and you might find that your prompt inspired someone to write a wonderful little fic for you. :) |

So, er, is the Secret-Santa-Secrety....thing not happening? Because, well, I has a fic for my person and I'd like to give it to them, but uh, I will be out of town for ten days as of this Sunday (20th) with no internet access.
If it's dead I'll post it before I leave, if it's not....who do I send it to? |

Since we spend so much time with bad RPers, I think this community needs a directory of GOOD RPers and communities. If, for example, someone wanted to find a decent place for canon-based Harry Potter RP, they could check the list of places BRPS players recommend.

One of my most guiltiest pleasures is looking at terrible cosplay pictures. Why do I do it you ask? Oh, I do it for the lulz!
I spat coke all over my monitor when I clicked on this.. holy jesus. There's more where that came from..
Heero has a new look... he decided he wasn't hip enough so he got a awesome emo fringe and traded his usual outfit for something from the thrift store just to be just that much edgier..

I want you all to meet a new friend, her username is littlenicky89.
She likes spawning horrible mpreg sues (come to think of it, I've never seen a well written fan-character spawned by mpreg), and kawaiidesu-fying everything she touches.
Her favorite fandoms include Blades of Glory, Shrek, Family Guy and American Dad, and Metalocalypse.
This is not metal.
Oh, and this tender, thrown-together-on-a-fangirlish-whim pairing spawned this thing. She likes to genderbend him a lot so I'm calling him an 'it'.
It's a sad day when genderbending makes more sense than the actual pairing. At least with this one artificial insemination is a possibility.
But wait, it gets better (worse?).
It's breeding and reproducing with the lovechild of Jack Sparrow and Sweeny Todd.
SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR SUES.
PLEASE.
She also does "cosplay" and drags her little nephews into it, probably because no one else wanted to cosplay her shitty pairing and sue that came out of it.

...She's cosplaying an mpreg pairing... with her cousin who can't be over eight years old.

| Not a rant at a bad RPer, but at a site |

Dear site that I have been on for the last year and a half that I used to love.
I realize you started out as a gaming site. But you chose a game that still hasn't come out and you've been waiting for for however many years. In the meantime, you decided to open it up to RPers, in hopes that it would save the site.
And it did for quite a few years.
But then you decided to say that RPers are not gamers, and therefore not full members of the site. And that if we don't bump the RP quota up, we have the potential to lose our RP forums.
Nevermind that I alone have at LEAST 50,000 words sunk into my character. Nevermind that one of my friends has at least 75,000 words for hers. Nevermind that our characters are two of the most interesting characters ON this darn site. Nevermind that four of us have been asked if we'll ever try to publish our works, focusing on our RP characters because, yes, we are that good, especially when you stick the four of us together.
But apparently, the RPers are killing the site. Which is news to me.
And now, after alienating the RPers, some of us have created our own site- and now we're in trouble because we dare create a safe haven where we don't have to worry about our forums being deleted, and we asked friends to RP with us. Yes, friends from you. But guess what? The five most recent posts in your RP? Was done by us- even though we're on a new site. Some of us RPers that you consider a waste of oxygen are still trying to keep your site alive. But four RPers can't keep things going for forever. We can only do so much.
And now, having someone say that as much as no one wants to alienate a group, it might have to be done, for the good of the community? We know which group will be alienated.
So fine. Alienate us. Ostracize us. Tell us we aren't full members of your site. We have another playground to play on. And in two months, our site will still be growing, and yours will be a memory.
And you'll only have yourselves to blame.
